Transfer a domain to Webhost365
Four steps, usually five to seven days. Your website and email keep working throughout — a transfer changes who manages the domain, not where it points.

Get the auth code
Also called an EPP or AuthInfo code. Your registrar must provide it within five days; most do instantly.

Two rules come from ICANN, not from us. A domain cannot move within 60 days of registration, a previous transfer, or a change to the registrant's name, organisation, or email — and your registrar must hand over the auth code within five days. Source: ICANN's guide to what every registrant should know. So: don't edit contacts right before a move, and start at least two weeks before expiry.
What happens when a domain expires
Expiry is the most common way a healthy website goes offline. Here is the sequence and how much time you have.
Before the date
Reminders go out early. Auto-renew charges your saved card and the date never matters.
Grace period
Site and email stop resolving. Renew at the normal price during this window; its length varies by extension.
Redemption, then deletion
Most global extensions allow a 30-day redemption at a much higher fee. After that the name is released to anyone.

Parking means the name is registered and reserved, with no website yet. Many people secure a name months before they launch.

Domain name FAQs
What is a domain name?
A domain name is the address people type to reach a website, such as yourbusiness.com. You register it for one or more years and keep it as long as you renew it. It points to your hosting through DNS records, and it can move between hosts without changing.
How much does a domain name cost?
It depends on the extension. At Webhost365, a .com is $9.95 for the first year and $14.95 per year to renew; a .in is $8.95 and $10.95 to renew; a .io is $38.95 and $42.95 (September 2026). Every extension we sell is listed above with both prices.
Why is the renewal price higher than the registration price?
Registries set a low first-year price to attract registrations and a higher standard price for renewals. Some gaps are large: a .shop is $9.95 to register and $38.95 to renew. We show both prices side by side so you can choose an extension you can afford to keep, rather than discovering the difference in year two.
How long does a domain transfer take?
Most transfers complete within five to seven days once you approve the confirmation email. Your website and email keep working during the move, because a transfer changes who manages the domain, not where it points. The transfer also adds a year to the domain's expiry date.
Why can't I transfer a domain I just registered or updated?
ICANN's Transfer Policy blocks transfers for 60 days after a new registration, a previous transfer, or a change to the registrant's name, organisation, or email address. The rule exists to prevent domain hijacking. Plan around it: avoid editing contact details right before a move, and start at least two weeks before expiry.
What happens if my domain expires?
The website and email stop working within hours, even though the hosting is fine. Most extensions then allow a renewal grace period at the normal price, followed for most global extensions by a 30-day redemption period at a much higher fee, and then deletion. Auto-renew prevents the whole sequence.
Do I need hosting to register a domain?
No. You can register a domain on its own and add hosting later, or point it at hosting elsewhere. Many people register the name first to secure it, then build the site when ready. A parked domain stays yours as long as you renew it.
What is domain parking?
Parking means a domain is registered but has no website on it yet. The name is reserved for you. You can leave it empty, or point it at a coming-soon page so visitors and search engines see something real. A free hosting plan is enough for a placeholder page.
Can I manage my domain and hosting in one place?

Is a .in domain right for an Indian business?
Usually, yes. A .in signals that you serve India, which helps local trust and local search, and it costs $8.95 to register and $10.95 to renew. Many Indian businesses register both the .in and the .com and point them at the same site, so customers reach you either way.
