Domain names in India — .in from ₹877.10/year, GST included
Register or transfer a domain with the renewal price shown before you buy. Full DNS control, transfer lock and reminders included, in the same account as your hosting. Every price is in rupees with 18% GST already in it, payable by UPI or card.
Registration and renewal, side by side
Every extension we sell, with both prices in rupees including 18% GST. Registries set renewal rates, and some are far higher than the first year — so we show both rather than letting you find out in year two.
| Extension | Register | Renew / yr | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| .in | ₹877.10 | ₹1,073.10 | Businesses serving India — rules and KYC |
| .com | ₹975.10 | ₹1,465.10 | Brands with a global audience |
| .net | ₹1,171.10 | ₹1,563.10 | Tech and networks |
| .org | ₹975.10 | ₹1,563.10 | Non-profits and communities |
| .co.uk | ₹779.10 | ₹1,073.10 | UK businesses |
| .co | ₹877.10 | ₹2,641.10 | Startups — note the renewal |
| .io | ₹3,817.10 | ₹4,209.10 | Software and developer tools |
| .us | ₹485.10 | ₹1,269.10 | US individuals and businesses |
| .me | ₹583.10 | ₹1,955.10 | Personal sites and portfolios |
| .info | ₹485.10 | ₹2,053.10 | Informational sites |
| .biz | ₹583.10 | ₹1,857.10 | Small businesses |
| .xyz | ₹1,269.10 | ₹1,465.10 | Modern brands and projects |
| .shop | ₹975.10 | ₹3,817.10 | Online stores — note the renewal |
| .mobi | ₹485.10 | ₹2,445.10 | Mobile-first services |
The amber renewals are the ones worth noticing. A .shop costs ₹975.10 to register and ₹3,817.10 to renew — nearly four times. That is the registry's pricing, not ours, and it is exactly why both figures sit in the same table. We apply the same rule to hosting: read why hosting renewal prices double, and why ours do not.
The .in rules most registrars do not mention
.in is the obvious choice for an Indian business, and it carries obligations that a .com does not. Better to know them before you buy.
Identity verification is mandatory
Every .in registrant completes NIXI's e-KYC after purchase — Aadhaar, PAN or passport through DigiLocker for residents, passport plus a declaration for foreign registrants. Miss the window your registrar states and the domain stops resolving. Our .in registration guide covers the documents and the deadline.
No WHOIS privacy on .in
NIXI prohibits privacy and proxy registration services, so your name, city and state appear publicly. If publishing a home address concerns you, register with a business address instead. Privacy is available on extensions that permit it.
Anyone can register a .in
There is no residency requirement — a 2025 rumour that foreigners were barred was formally retracted by the registry. Foreign registrants simply complete verification with a passport and a declaration of their India connection.
No auctions or speculative trading
A May 2026 registry advisory states that auctioning, bidding and speculative sale of .in names are not permissible. Register names you intend to use, rather than to flip.
GST included, and claimable
The ₹877.10 registration and ₹1,073.10 renewal both include 18% GST, and your invoice carries the CGST/SGST or IGST breakup — so a GST-registered business claims it back as input tax credit.
.in or .com? Often both
A .in signals local presence and helps Indian search and trust. A .com travels better internationally. Many Indian businesses register both and point them at the same site, which costs a few hundred rupees more a year and protects the name.
Control comes standard, no add-ons to buy
The basics are not upsells here.
Full DNS management
Edit A, CNAME, MX and TXT records from your client area and point the domain anywhere. Our DNS records explainer covers what each type does.
Transfer lock
On by default, so nobody can move the domain away without your approval. Switch it off yourself when you genuinely need to.
Reminders and auto-renew
Expiry takes a healthy site offline within hours. Auto-renew makes the date irrelevant, and reminders arrive early either way.
WHOIS privacy where permitted
Keep your contact details out of the public database on extensions that support it. Not available on .in, where the registry requires public data.
One account with hosting
Domain, hosting plan, invoices and renewals in a single client area with one login and one renewal calendar.
Support from Noida, on IST
DNS, transfer and expiry questions answered 24/7 by engineers on +91 828 700 5050, live chat or ticket — not a script.
Move a domain here in four steps
Usually five to seven days. Your website and email keep working throughout, because a transfer changes who manages the domain, not where it points — and a year is added to the expiry date.
Unlock it
Turn off the transfer lock at your current registrar and check the contact email is one you can actually read.
Get the auth code
Also called an EPP or AuthInfo code. Your registrar must provide it within five days; most do instantly.
Start it here
Search the domain, switch to Transfer, enter the code and check out in rupees.
Approve the email
Approve our confirmation and the transfer completes, with a year added to the expiry date.
Two rules come from ICANN, not from us. A domain cannot move within 60 days of registration, a previous transfer, or a change to the registrant's name, organisation or email — and your registrar must hand over the auth code within five days. So do not edit contacts right before a move, and start at least two weeks before expiry. Our full transfer guide covers the locks and what to do if a transfer is refused.
Domains in India — the questions we get asked
Straight answers on price, GST, .in rules, transfers and expiry.
How much does a .in domain cost in India?
₹877.10 to register for a year and ₹1,073.10 to renew, both including 18% GST. A .com is ₹975.10 and ₹1,465.10. Every extension we sell is listed above with both prices, because the renewal is the figure you live with.
Do these prices include GST?
Yes. Every price on this page includes 18% GST, so the figure you see is the figure charged. Your invoice shows the tax breakup — CGST and SGST within Uttar Pradesh, IGST elsewhere — which GST-registered businesses can use to claim input tax credit.
Why is the renewal price higher than the registration price?
Registries set a low first-year price to attract registrations and a higher standard rate afterwards. Some gaps are large: a .shop is ₹975.10 to register and ₹3,817.10 to renew. We show both side by side so you pick an extension you can afford to keep.
Is a .in domain right for an Indian business?
Usually yes. A .in signals that you serve India, which helps local trust and local search. Many Indian businesses register both the .in and the .com and point them at the same site. Every .in registrant completes NIXI's identity verification after purchase — our .in registration guide explains the documents and the deadline.
Can I use WHOIS privacy on a .in?
No. NIXI prohibits privacy and proxy registration services on .in, so your name, city and state appear publicly. Register with a business address if a home address concerns you. Privacy is available on extensions that permit it.
How long does a domain transfer take?
Most complete within five to seven days once you approve the confirmation email, and a year is added to the expiry date. Your website and email keep working throughout, since a transfer changes who manages the domain rather than where it points.
What happens if my domain expires?
The website and email stop working within hours even though the hosting is fine. Most extensions then allow a grace period at the normal price, followed for most global extensions by a 30-day redemption at a much higher fee, and then deletion. Our domain expiration guide covers each stage.
Can I pay by UPI?
Yes. Pay by UPI, credit card or debit card through Razorpay or Stripe India. Prices are set and billed in INR, so there is no foreign-transaction markup on a renewal you will be paying every year.
A domain you can afford to keep
.in from ₹877.10 a year with the renewal shown before you buy, full DNS control, transfer lock, and GST included in every price.
